In 2006 the airport was named after Nikola Tesla, a Serbian engineer and inventor noted for his advanced ideas that where truly ahead of his time. Tesla was most known for his involvement in the development of the X-Ray machine, transmission of electrical power, and the radio. The airport has two terminals: T1 is the original terminal which is used for domestic flights, and T2 is a new terminal for international flights. The airport is 18 kilometers (11.25 miles) from the center of Belgrade along the motorway E70 (Belgrade – Zagreb). Special shuttle buses leave every hour from the airport to the Slavija-square in the centre of Belgrade, via the Fontana-square and the Central Station. A ticket costs DIN 160.
